In anticipation for the next major title in the Dragon Age franchise coming next month, EA has decided to offer Bioware’s RPG Dragon Age: Origins free of charge through Origin’s On The House promotion.

If you’re interested in playing this game without having to pay for it, you’ll need to download EA’s Origin Client and sign up for a free Origin account before you can download and play the game.  If you already have an EA account and the Origin client downloaded, you can simply select Dragon Age: Origins from the Free Games section of the Origin Store.  Do it quickly as the game will only be offered for free until October 14th, 2014.

Microsoft has announced their next major operating system and it is Windows 10.  Just from a short glance at many of the screenshots posted after the OS’s announcement, it looks like Windows 10 will improve on Windows 8’s interface in almost every way.  The START button has been restored to all of its further glory, and the improved interface for mouse and keyboard users should impress many who preferred the classic Windows interface.

However, if screenshots are not enough for your, Microsoft is offering an advanced preview of Windows 10 right now, completely free of charge.  That’s right, the entire operating system can be downloaded and installed free of charge and will continue to work on your PC or Laptop for at least a few months.  Both 32 and 64-bit versions of the preview OS are being offered for download.  As for recommended system specs, Microsoft has stated that anyone currently using Windows 8 should be able to run Windows 10 without much problem.

You must have a Microsoft Live account (yes, Xbox Live accounts will work) to download the Windows 10 Preview.  If you already have one, you can use it to log into the Windows Technical Insider site, where you can get all the information you need to download and install the Windows 10 Preview.

According to recently released information, if you plan to install Windows 10 on an already existing PC, you should be able to do a simple upgrade from either Windows 7 or Windows 8 without having to wipe your PC’s hard drive.  However, we don’t yet know if the final version of Windows 10 will be compatible with the preview build, and you might have to wipe your PC to install the final version when it is released.

Xbox Live Gold members using their Xbox 360s will be happy to find that the classic Electronic Arts game Battlefield: Bad Company 2 can be downloaded free of charge for all Xbox Live Gold Members.  I recommend telling all your Xbox Live friends you have as from what I’ve been told this game has a great cooperative mode.  The game takes up over 4 GB of space, so I would recommend downloading it to an Xbox 360 Hard Drive.

All Xbox 360 games download through Games With Gold will remain playable even after their Gold account expires.  Battlefield Bad Company 2 will continue to be offered for free until October 15th, 2014.  After that, Darksiders II will be made free through Games With Gold.
