Spring is always an exciting time for game releases, and it seems like this Spring was just dominated by great RPGs.  Bravely Default, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and South Park: The Stick of Truth all were released within the past two months.  With the release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on the PS3 this week, one hell of a season for RPG releases draws to a close.

In our latest video, Maniac talks about what came out, the details about each game’s release, and gives his thoughts about the games.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Unboxing March 19, 2014

Continuing with our Metal Gear coverage this week to celebrate the release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Maniac cracks open Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on the Xbox One.  The Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game include an exclusive mission starring Raiden, the hero of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.  Playstation players get their own exclusive mission, called “Deja Vu”.  Let’s crack it open and see what is included in the $30 game.

I commend Konami for including all of the game’s content (including the platform exclusive bonus mission) on the game’s disc, and not forcing players to redeem download codes.  Also, take a look at the box, Konami promises some exclusive content for any player who later on picks up Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.  Since the game offers no codes, it is highly likely that The Phantom Pain will use some other type of way to unlock the game’s exclusive content, such as a game data or save file from Ground Zeroes.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is out now for the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

Including an art book, updated versions of MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4, two digital graphic novels, and download codes for the PS1 games Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid VR Missions.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is out now exclusively for the PS3.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Starting today, Xbox Live Gold Members can download the full unlocked version of the Xbox Live Arcade title Dungeon Defenders free of charge thanks to Microsoft’s Games with Gold. So, that means that right now you can either download the full game free of charge, or if you already have a free trial copy of the game downloaded on your Xbox 360, upgrade it to the full version free of charge.

Dungeon Defenders will remain free until the end of March 2014. A quick notice for Apple Device owners that Apple quietly released iOS 7.1 today to the iPhone and iPad. The new iOS update includes a slew of new features including CarPlay, improved HDR photo settings on iPhone 5s, performance on iPhone 4, and several more bug fixes.

Check your iDevice’s software update feature to see if your device is compatible with iOS 7.1. If you are planning to update your handheld on its own without connecting it to iTunes through your PC or Mac, it is about a 250MB download, depending on your device and how recent its software is. It also requires 2.5GB of free space.

If you’re planning to update the device though iTunes, you must download a 1.5GB update file on your computer, but you will not need 2.5GB of free space on your device. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes installed before performing the update.

I think I may actually be breaking news about this tonight. Xbox One can now natively stream gameplay (with microphone and video commentary from the Kinect) from the new Xbox One Twitch.TV app. This feature was made possible with the recent Xbox One firmware update, but it required an updated Twitch.TV app to enable the feature. Today, that app is now live, and Xbox One owners can start broadcasting their games immediately. Just update your Twitch.TV app on your Xbox One, or download it now from the Xbox Live App Store if you do not yet have it installed.

Here’s a quick rundown of how to stream your gameplay.

All you will need is a free Twitch.TV account to stream your gameplay. You can get one here.

How to Update the Xbox One Controller March 9, 2014

A extra feature of the March 2014 update was a firmware update for the Xbox One controller.  From what I’ve heard, this new controller firmware was released in cooperation with Titanfall’s development team, and should make the controller work better and be more responsive, on top of making the controller compatible with Microsoft’s new Xbox One Stereo Headset.

Unfortunately, the controller does not automatically update with the Xbox One when the March 2014 is installed.  You will need to do a few extra things to update your controller.  However, it’s a simple process, and here’s how to do it.

The highest profile Playstation 4 exclusive title is getting released later on this month.  To commemorate the game’s impending release, this live-action trailer was posted up today.  While it does not feature actual PS4 gameplay, having seen an actual live gameplay preview recently, I can assure you that the awesome move the game’s protagonist does at the end of the trailer is something you will be able to do in the game.
