The legendary Jim Cummings, who has voiced the characters of Winnie the Pooh, Darkwing Duck, and Splatterhouse’s Terror Mask (just to name a few), answers some questions about his highly successful career. He gives some great insight into his methods and tosses in some hilarious behind the scenes stories to boot.
Apologies for the low volume.
This is just the first of much more ConnectiCon 2012 coverage to come in the next few days!

Lara Croft vs Nathan Drake Teaser July 11, 2012

My good friends over at Bat in the Sun, who previously had made Batman short films greatly inspired by games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, have announced the newest lineup for their series Super Power Beat Down.
Super Power Beat Down takes two of the most popular characters in comics, science fiction, and video games and pits them against one another while an expert panel discusses their strengths and weaknesses. It’s a great series with high production values and a great deal of humor. Previous episodes have pitted Batman against Wolverine, Gandolf against Darth Vader and had a drag race between two iconic Batmobiles.
The next episode is going to be the first time Super Power Beat Down has featured two iconic video game characters, and they couldn’t be better matched. Nathan Drake, from the Playstation-Exclusive series Uncharted will be matched up against Lara Croft from the multiplatform series Tomb Raider. As treasure hunters, both bring acrobatics, cunning and weapons expertise to the game.
I have to say that this matchup has divided the site contributors as I happen to favor Nathan Drake in this match whereas Princess Angel favors Lara Croft.
Director Aaron Schoenke promises the new episode will be posted after the San Diego Comic Con and encourages anyone attending the convention to come check them out, as they will be in attendance.

When running the system update program on the Playstation 3 last night I noticed Firmware 4.21 was released.
No release notes were included with the update, so its unknown what it does, and it is currently not required for access to the Playstation Network.
You can download Firmware 4.21 by using the System Update feature in the Playstation 3’s settings menu. It’s currently not required to access the Playstation Network but that may be subject to change.
The Deeper Interactivity of Watch Dogs July 5, 2012

Like a lot of the gaming press, I was tremendously impressed by UbiSoft’s reveal of Watch Dogs at this year’s E3. The game looked fantastic. It had a gritty cyberpunk style and had gameplay that I had wanted to see in a video game for the past fifteen years.
Upon my initial viewing of the game back at E3 I noticed something during the early segment of the game. At the time I dismissed it as part of the game’s style, but recently upon a rewatch of the gameplay demo I decided to check further into it.
There’s a new barcode technology, called a Tag, which have become more popular with the advent of camera equipped smartphones. Nowadays, an advertisement or billboard will have a small image in it that you can “tag” with your phone to redirect you to a website where you can get more information about the product. This tagging feature has also been used in video games. Three Microsoft Tags were hidden in the game Alan Wake, which directed players to secret phone messages and awarded them a free code for a special exclusive 360 theme.
In the Watch Dogs demo, you can clearly see a character walking around with a box on their head. The box was no mere fashion statement (or Minecraft cosplay), there was a tag on it, and since first seeing the demo, I was curious if the tag actually worked. I froze the video on the clearest image I could get of one of the sides of the tag box and it turns out that it is indeed a valid tag.
The tag redirects to dotconnexion, which is the website of the gala that the player snuck into during the Watch Dogs demo. In it there is a tribute page to the event organizer (who the player killed at the end of the demo), as well as two interviews with artists the event featured. In the interviews the artists talk about themselves and explain their exhibits and how they work. In fact if you look closely you can find the interactive art exhibits they’re discussing on the site in the game’s demo video, and they work in the game exactly as described! This kind of attention to detail is fantastic!
The site is formatted for both PC and mobile users.
I love when an alternate realty expands around a product. I’m sure well all remember the extremely successful I Love Bees campaign from the Halo 2 days, which brought a ton of players in just to solve it and resolve the campaign’s mystery, some of which had no interest in Halo at all. More recently this has been done with movies like Tron: Legacy and The Dark Knight. However, unlike I Love Bees, it looks like this site was designed during Watch Dog’s development, so there’s a chance that information gotten from the website, or another one like it, could play a role in the final version of the game.
It’s no secret that UbiSoft intends to bring a new level of interactivity to Watch Dogs that we haven’t seen before in other games. At E3 they also announced a companion app will be released to tablets (and hopefully other mobile devices) which will allow players to track their game progress, give them increased functionality in the game, and track the progress of their friends regardless of the platform that they are playing on.
How many more websites could UbiSoft be planning to spring up by the time that Watch Dogs releases? Will they provide new, exclusive information about the game that the media hasn’t gotten yet? Keep your eyes peeled.
Anyone else remember playing Majestic?
Final Fantasy VII PC Re-Release Announced July 4, 2012

One of the most beloved Japanese Console Role-Playing Games of all time is going to be getting a re-release, and its for the PC. Final Fantasy VII, the game that literally wrote the book for JRPGs, is coming back to the PC.
This is no mere re-release of the original PC port of the game which came out in the late 90s. The PC version of the game will be updated to support modern computer hardware and operating systems. Online users will also get support for online cloud saves, game achievements, and a whole lot more.
My words cannot do this justice, just take a look at this trailer for yourselves.
I think Square has heard my pleas, but they didn’t need to go all out like this. Hopefully this will convince them to re-release the console version of the game on retail disc as well.
The new version of Final Fantasy VII is coming soon to PC. It is already out for the PS1 and can be purchased for download on PS3 and PSP through the Playstation Network.

Lets see what he has to say on this day!
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Live-Action Teaser July 2, 2012
Posted by Maniac in Game News.add a comment
As previously announced, there is going to be a live-action prequel series in anticipation for Halo 4’s release in November, 2012. And now, Microsoft has just released the first trailer for that series, called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
You can watch the teaser right here on Halo Waypoint or watch it below!
The full trailer for the series will be released during the San Diego Comic Con between July 12th to July 15th.
The first episode of Forward Unto Dawn will release in October, 2012 through Machinima Prime and Halo Waypoint. A Director’s Cut of the series will be included with the Halo 4 Legendary Edition.
This isn’t the first time a live-action Halo series has been produced, but this is probably the most ambitious one that Microsoft has done. Microsoft had previously released a three-part series which was edited into a short film for Halo 3’s launch, called Halo: Landfall, which was produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp.
Halo 4 is coming November 6th, 2012 exclusive to the Xbox 360.
