Batman Day – KWing Reviews July 19, 2012
Posted by Maniac in Editorials.2 comments
Looking for reviews of all the classic Batman games? Look no further than Knightwing…no, not that Knightwing, I’m talking about Knightwing01, or KWing for short. On his YouTube channel, you’ll find some of the most in-depth video reviews I’ve seen for even the most obscure of Batman games not reviewed by a mainstream publication.
For me to post up all the videos he’s done on Batman games alone would take up so much space it would probably break my site. This guy did a full Let’s Play of Batman: Arkham City (and the DLC) with his wife, and that alone would be enough to break the site. Instead I’m going to post up some of my personal favorite reviews of his of various Batman games, but I encourage you to check out his YouTube Channel because there is a TON of fantastic reviews that he did, both by himself and with his wife, of all kinds of games ranging from Batman all the way to Metroid.
Well, first off, if you had any questions about just what happened between Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, you’ll want to check this Lore out.
Next off is the first review of his that I ever saw, his review of Batman: Return of the Joker.
Next off I want to highlight some of my favorite reviews of some more Batman games that he did as a small miniseries. First off is a game that I had on the Nintendo GameCube called Batman: Dark Tomorrow, which only redeemable quality was the comic book art style and the cutscenes. The gameplay was complete garbage. If you ever wondered what a game like Arkham City could have been like if it was done badly, watch this review.
Next up is a review of a video game that I happened to like a lot. It was the first Batman video game that Kevin Conroy had done (no, not Batman: Arkham Asylum or Batman: Rise of the Sin Tzu), Batman: Vengeance. Inspired by the last season of the animated TV series and voiced by all the voice actors of that series, the game fantastically served as a 3D recreation of that classic 2D animated series.
Seriously how groundbreaking was this game? The creators of the Batman: Animated Series were so inspired by the 3D graphics in the game, they decided to use 3D models for the opening credits sequence in their next series, Justice League.
And since we’re talking about the Batman Animated Series, here’s a review he did with his wife where he compared the different versions released of the video games based on that groundbreaking animated series to the Super Nintendo and Genesis.
And finally, here’s a review I really liked for Batman Returns on the Super Nintendo.
Now be aware there are a TON of reviews Kwing and Kwife have done, as well as Let’s Plays that I did not embed here, including reviews of Batman Begins (multiplatform) and Batman (NES) and I totally recommend checking those out as well! Of course you could always just go check out his channel for yourselves and check out the tons of reviews he’s done over the years!
Batman Day – Batmobile Drag Race July 19, 2012

Okay it’s not technically gaming related, but it is a competition. I’m sure many of you have always asked yourselves, “What is the fastest Batmobile?” Our friends over at Bat in the Sun have the answer.
Their series Super Power Beat Down takes two of the most iconic things in comics, science-fiction, fantasy and gaming and pits them against each other for the fans. They also bring in various experts from across the web to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each side and concludes with a final battle to decide who is the best!
For their premiere episode, they took two of the most iconic cars of all time, the George Barris developed Batmobile made for the Adam West Batman TV show and the Batmobile created for the Tim Burton directed 1989 Batman movie! Who wins? Watch and find out!
Coming next for Super Power Beat Down? Lara Croft vs Nathan Drake.
And if you’re a huge fan of the Batmobile like I am, there was a fantastic documentary about the Batmobile which was produced in conjunction with The Dark Knight Rises. A 22-minute cut of the documentary premiered at the San Diego Comic Con and was broadcasted on TV shortly afterwards. The documentary is going to be released on The Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray in Fall 2012 (technically making this documentary the first confirmed special feature on the disc as well as a release announcement of the disc itself) as well as Digital Download. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a preview!
Batman Day – Angry Video Game Nerd July 19, 2012

I can’t think of a better way to kick off gameXcess.net’s Batman Day coverage than with the Angry Video Game Nerd!
Released a few years ago, James Rolfe, better known as “The Angry Video Game Nerd” released a two part video series where he reviewed some of the best (and worst) Batman video games of the 80s and 90s, including some games that I had TV commercials really liked.
It’s a hiliarious video with some great nostaliga. Check it out! Oh and if you’re at work, don’t crank up the audio on this one.
Keep your eyes on the site. More Batman content is coming!
The Dark Knight Rises premieres at Midnight tonight in theaters and IMAX.
Today is Batman Day July 19, 2012

Tonight at Midnight the Caped Crusader will make his triumphant live-action return to the silver screen after four years. The anticipation couldn’t be higher for director Christpher Nolan’s next film. While no one (except the Academy) would argue that The Dark Knight was the best picture of 2008, The Dark Knight Rises has some pretty big shoes to fill. However, given its successful track record, many are quite optimistic. To quote Doug Walker of That Guy with the Glasses from the ConnectiCon Press Panel this weekend, “It’ll probably bomb like Avengers!”
So just what are we talking about here? Take a look at this recent trailer.
So stay tuned to the site for the rest of the day, we’re going to be plastering the site with a ton of Batman related gaming content from all over the internet, as well as some cool news about the new movie.
Oh and when you do go to see the movie, make sure to see it in IMAX. And make sure when you do go to see the movie on IMAX that your IMAX theater meets two requirements. One, that it uses a proper 70mm IMAX film projector and second that the IMAX screen is at a 1.44.1 aspect ratio, which typical for traditional IMAX movies. Just ask if the theater is a square screen or taller than it is wider because that is the screen you want to see the movie on.
Unlike many other Hollywood movies which release to IMAX, The Dark Knight Rises is not an IMAX conversion, about half of the movie was shot with actual IMAX cameras at the IMAX aspect ratio. The only way you’ll be able to see all of what was shot will be in an IMAX theater.

The Last of Us Comic Con 2012 Cutscene July 17, 2012

During the San Diego Comic Con 2012, we got to preview a scene from the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive game, The Last of Us, which is being developed by Naughty Dog, the creators of the Uncharted series. Take a look.
It’s clear that Naughty Dog really outdid themselves here. Their characters are able to convey emotions beyond what we had seen before in their previous work. It’s the job of the characters to make the player feel as if they are part of the world, and to set the stakes for success and failure. By having the characters act like people, it properly conveys the danger. The game is more tense, making the world all the more real.
The Last of Us is coming in 2013 exclusive to the Playstation 3.
Halo 4 Fiction Panel – San Diego Comic Con 2012 July 16, 2012

The good folks at Halo Waypoint have posted up a video of the entire Halo 4 Fiction Panel, which was recorded at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. I’m a huge fan of the Halo Expanded Universe, and have tons of the art books, graphic novels, bestsellers, and the Blu-Ray.
With the release of Halo 4, the developers promised that more story will focus around the game this time around than just being limited to the expanded universe, but there are still plenty of new things that they are doing in the expanded universe in anticipation for Halo 4, like the Forward Unto Dawn Live-Action movie serial.
So give it a watch! It’s moderated by Frank “Frankie” O’Connor, formerly of Bungie.
Halo 4 is coming November 6th, 2012 exclusive to the Xbox 360.

ConnectiCon 2012 – Voice Actors Press Event July 15, 2012

Maniac and Princess Angel were present for a special press only Q&A at this year’s ConnectiCon. In it, we had the privilege of speaking with Amanda Winn Lee, Carlos Ferro, Danielle McRae, and Rachel Robinson.
It’s an absolutely hilarious experience you should watch.
Sadly, Carlos makes it clear in this video that Dom and Marcus will not be appearing in Gears of War: Judgement, however he did not completely rule out the possibility he will play Dom again, or that Dom and Marcus will appear again in future Gears of War games or DLC.
Gears of War Judgement Release Date July 14, 2012
Posted by Maniac in Game News.add a comment
Originally announced at E3 2012, Gears of War: Judgement is a game which takes place before the events of Gears of War 3. Instead of following the story of Marcus Fenix and his partner Dominic “Dom” Santiago, the game will instead follow the story of the other two members of Delta Squad, Damon Baird and Augustus Cole.
Gears of War: Judgement will release March 19th, 2013 exclusive to the Xbox 360.
So if the game’s going to be a prequel about Baird and Cole, does that mean that the series leads Fenix and Dom will make an appearance in the game? Maniac asked that question to Carlos Ferro, the voice of Dom in Gears of War, yesterday at the ConnectiCon press event. Stay tuned for that answer!
UPDATE: The video is up, sadly the answer was no.
