Diablo III is the highly anticipated sequel to 2000’s Diablo II, which is considered to be by many one of the finest games ever made.  In fact, it’s so popular its even still sold in most stores over ten years after its official release (although you’ll probably find it bundled with the original Diablo and the game’s official hint books), which is probably one of the most impressive feats a game can accomplish.

What is Diablo III?  Check this out and find out!

To celebrate the release of Diablo III, Blizzard is having an official midnight release night all over the world, including at the Best Buy in Irvine, California.  Check out this page for all the details if they’re going to host a launch event near you.

Diablo III officially releases May 15th, 2012 exclusive to the PC.

Max Payne 3 Midnight Launch Tonight May 14, 2012

I went in to confirm my preorder yesterday and the folks at GameStop informed me that they will indeed be selling Max Payne 3 tonight starting at midnight.  While not all stores will be having this promotion, be sure to check with whichever store you may have preordered at to get the details for yourselves.

Max Payne 3 is a game that I’ve been waiting for since the release of Max Payne 2 back in 2003.  When the initial screenshots, concept art and previews came out for it (and knowing that a developer other than Remedy was working on it) my initial feelings were one of regret and extreme dissapointment.  But now, one delay later and after a fantastic showing at the New York Comic Con, I must say that my anticipation for this game has become quite high.

One of my early starts in the gaming industry was working for The Deep Six, which was GameSpy’s Max Payne site, from 2003-2005, where I followed the development of Max Payne 2 up to its release and after the game came out, wrote new articles and other site content for the Max Payne community.  Tonight feels almost like a return to the old days for me.  Take a look at the game’s official launch trailer!

Only the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the game will release tonight.  For those of you who plan to pick up Max Payne 3 on PC, it will be released later in the month.  A Collector’s Edition will also be released for the game, but will only be sold for people who preordered the game up to last month.  Hopefully I’ll be able to post up an unboxing of it some time tomorrow.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!  It’s a holiday and because of that it’s time to pay a montly visit to our friend Julian Day, the Calendar Man, at his cell in Arkham City under the Solomon Wayne Courthouse.  We’ve paid quite a lot of visits to him so far, and the empty spots on the calendar next to his cell are getting fewer and fewer!

I also talk a bit about the new Batman: Arkham City Game of The Year Edition which is coming at the end of May, as well as the release of the next Arkham City expansion, Harley Quinn’s Revenge, which is launching with the Game of the Year edition, but will also be made avalible to current game owners as downloadable content ($9.99US or 800 Microsoft Points).  Here’s the latest trailer!

Sit back and enjoy the conversation we have about the game’s single player, multiplayer, and a whole new co-operative campaign that are on the way. We also talk about the history of Halo, the game’s backstory, and just what plot threads might get explored that have been left by previous Halo games.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Coming to PC May 22nd May 8, 2012

It’s official!  Because of the overwhelming demand for it and the fantastic sales of Alan Wake on the PC, the second game in the Alan Wake franchise, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, is coming to the PC!

I for one think this is an amazing decision on Remedy’s part.  The sales for the PC version of Alan Wake were tremendous and paid for themselves in a very short period of time, and the PC fanbase that release created has been clamoring for American Nightmare since it released on XBLA.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is already out for Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points.  The PC version will release May 22nd through STEAM and GOG.  They’re also promising that people who preorder the game will get a 10% discount off the game.

If you have played through the game and have any questions about just what was going on while playing it, feel free to check out this video we produced which explains the complete plotline of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.  Have questions about the original Alan Wake?  We have an explanation video for the first Alan Wake game as well!

Twisted Pixel to Premere Unannounced Title at E3, Challenges Players to Win It May 7, 2012

I fired up my Xbox Live Arcade version of Ms. Splosion Man tonight in order to get some new achievements when I noticed a new menu option active that hadn’t been there before. When I loaded it up, the game started to download some files and then presented me with the most awesome of challenges.

Twisted Pixel will be showing a brand-new unannounced game at E3 2012 and to celebrate, they are challenging their players in a unique way to win a copy!

A new single-player level has been released for free to players of Ms. Splosion Man (dubbed level 8-1). You are advised to complete the level in as short a time as possible. The twist is that this new level has some special rules to it. If at any point you touch the floor you will be penalized 10 seconds on your time. The level has no checkpoints either, so if you die or are destroyed at any point in the level you will be forced to restart it from the beginning, however simply touching the floor of the level will not kill you. The top five players who can pass the challenge with the shortest time by 11pm EST On May 20th will be the winners and win themselves a copy of the new game and a Ms Splosion Man plushie.

Twisted Pixel promises the new game will be announced June 5th at E3. Now if you’ll excuse me I have some ‘splosions to be doing.

Ms. Splosion Man is currently an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive which costs 800 Microsoft Points. A PC, iOS and Android version is in development but not yet released and not part of the challenge.

UPDATE:  Twisted Pixel representatives have confirmed to me that Ms. Splosion Man is currently the only Twisted Pixel game running this promotion.

Where is the Avengers Video Game? May 7, 2012

The Avengers came out last week and is line to become one of the biggest films of all time. What surprised me was that I’ve noticed many people complaining online this week that no Avengers video game has been released to tie-in with the movie.

I have just been scratching my head while reading these comments because an Avengers video game already exists. It was released in 2006, features pretty much the entire Marvel cast of heroes, and is a pretty fun game. Watch the video to find out more!

Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition Unboxing May 6, 2012

Maniac unxboxes the Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition on the Xbox 360. The game, originally released in 2010, has won numerous awards across the board and is considered to be one hell of a fun open world western.

Just what extra has been added to this new release of the game, lets crack the game open and find out.

While we opened up the Xbox 360 version of the game here, you can also find this edition on the Playstation 3. One nice thing that I noticed is that unlike some other game of the year editions I have seen previously, the game does not include just simply a normal version of the game disc with downloadable codes for the extra content but the content is included on an extra disc (or with the game disc itself).
