I fired up my Xbox Live Arcade version of Ms. Splosion Man tonight in order to get some new achievements when I noticed a new menu option active that hadn’t been there before. When I loaded it up, the game started to download some files and then presented me with the most awesome of challenges.

Twisted Pixel will be showing a brand-new unannounced game at E3 2012 and to celebrate, they are challenging their players in a unique way to win a copy!

A new single-player level has been released for free to players of Ms. Splosion Man (dubbed level 8-1). You are advised to complete the level in as short a time as possible. The twist is that this new level has some special rules to it. If at any point you touch the floor you will be penalized 10 seconds on your time. The level has no checkpoints either, so if you die or are destroyed at any point in the level you will be forced to restart it from the beginning, however simply touching the floor of the level will not kill you. The top five players who can pass the challenge with the shortest time by 11pm EST On May 20th will be the winners and win themselves a copy of the new game and a Ms Splosion Man plushie.

Twisted Pixel promises the new game will be announced June 5th at E3. Now if you’ll excuse me I have some ‘splosions to be doing.

Ms. Splosion Man is currently an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive which costs 800 Microsoft Points. A PC, iOS and Android version is in development but not yet released and not part of the challenge.

UPDATE:  Twisted Pixel representatives have confirmed to me that Ms. Splosion Man is currently the only Twisted Pixel game running this promotion.

The Avengers came out last week and is line to become one of the biggest films of all time. What surprised me was that I’ve noticed many people complaining online this week that no Avengers video game has been released to tie-in with the movie.

I have just been scratching my head while reading these comments because an Avengers video game already exists. It was released in 2006, features pretty much the entire Marvel cast of heroes, and is a pretty fun game. Watch the video to find out more!
